About Us

"When I first saw the house I fell in love with the garden, the shady paths, the smell of thyme and lavender, the sound of the ciccadas. Time stretches out here, time to think, time to read, time to listen to the birds and wildlife around you. It's a pocket of peace and tranquility... but it's also a large house where the family can come together for birthdays, celebrations and holidays, where several generations can be together and enjoy their own space, there's a place for everyone"   Fran, owner.

About our location

Situated between the Cevennes mountains and the mediterranean sea, surrounded by small pictoresques villages and vinyards, la Bardane is ideally placed to give you the opportunity to reach different parts of the region.

To the North West there's the Cevennes and the Causses, the high limestone plateaux, home to many sheep, deep canyons and wonderful caves. Mt Aigoual, the second highest point in the Cevennes (1567m) is not far, it's a beautiful drive and you can visit the weather station museum at the top. Closer to home (30km) the spectacular Grotte des Demoiselles is well worth a visit.

To the South there's the mediterranean sea with its sandy beaches, picturesque coastal towns, restaurants, casinos and night life; and slightly to the east there's the Camargue, 930 square km of protected wetlands, home to 400 protected species of birds including the greater flamingo and, of course, the camargue horses.

And all around you there are thousands of years of history, from the arena in Nimes to the Pont du Gard, Aigues-Mortes or Carcassonne a little further to the south west, there is plenty to see and discover. There are vinyards a plenty and vintages to taste and enjoy, local fruits and vegetables available in the village markets and throughout, bright blue skies and sunshine and, of course, the ciccadas.
